Turkey Colostrum: Essential Antibodies for Newborn Foals

Newborn foals don't produce their own antibodies until they are 3-5 weeks old, leaving them vulnerable to infections in their first few days. To protect them, they need antibodies from the mare's colostrum immediately after birth.

Why is colostrum so important?

• Natural Protection : Colostrum provides the antibodies needed to strengthen the foal's immune system during this critical period.
• Limited Absorption : Colostrum antibodies can only be absorbed by the foal's intestine in the first 12 hours of life. Absorption capacity decreases dramatically after 24 hours.

Feeding Instructions:

If the foal doesn't want to drink the milk, you can stimulate its appetite by smearing a little sugar on its tongue.

• Do not force the foal to swallow milk by tilting its head back, as this will prevent it from swallowing properly and may cause milk to enter the lungs.
• Do not give more than 500 ml of Pavo Colostrum per hour. Too much intake can cause intestinal disorders.
• Maintain good hygiene. Prepare the milk with clean hands and rinse the nipple, bottle, and drinking bowls thoroughly after use.
